Animal Crossing
The Animal Crossing series is a series that started back on the n64 and GameCube, and is exclusive to Nintendo consoles. There have been four games so far (and a spin-off we don’t talk about) and all of them are great games, aside from the spin-off. The Animal Crossing games are life simulators, where you move into a town with neighbors and other non-player characters that are animals. You then spend your time collecting fruit, catching fish, and collecting other goods. You can then sell these items for an in-game currency called bells, which allows you to pay your loan to increase the size of your house or buy furniture and clothing. There’s something about this gameplay loop that I really enjoy, whether it be peacefully fishing at sunset or figuring out the best house design to show off to me friends. I have spent countless hours across all the Animal Crossing Games, other than the original one on the N64/GameCube. This series is definitely my favourite of the “life simulator” genre, and I can’t wait for the Switch version of the game to release in the coming years.
